Auburn University
Auburn University has a very prestigious and great football program. Since its beginnings in 1892, Auburn football has a complete record of 712–400–47. They have won 2 national championships, 11 conference championships, 7 divisional championships, 7 perfect seasons, and had 3 Heisman Trophy winners. Also they compete in the iron bowl against the University of Alabama. This is the most intense rivalry in the state of Alabama and many fans go overboard. This was the case when one of Auburn's famous traditions known as rolling the corner, which is when they throw rolls of toilet paper on the trees on Toomer's corner. These trees were estimated at 80-130 years old. In the
year 2010 when Auburn beat Alabama in the Iron bowl some fans as a prank taped a Cam Newton Jersey on the statue of Paul Bryant outside the Paul Bryant stadium. One Alabama fan got so upset that this person went and poisoned the trees on Toomer's corner. Once he had done this he called a radio station and he admited what he had done. Now that he has been charged with destruction of private property he is now facing 10 years in jail for poisoning and damaging the trees, which experts say will probably not make it. Although this sad incedent has happened many fans are still respectful of the competition and know that not everyone can be held accountable for the actions of one man. There are still alot of positives comming of of the 2010 season, for it was the first time they won a national championship in over 50 years and their very own Cam Newton winning the hiesman trophy.
