He had a .782 (68-of-87) free throw percentage as a freshman. This ranked third on the team. He made his first collegiate start against Robert Morris, but then suffered a stress fracture in left foot early in the season. He recovered and helped Xavier make it to the Sweet Sixteen.
He averaged 14 points and seven assists a game while leading his team to a 28-2 record and the quarterfinals of the National Prep Championship. He was the 18th ranked point guard in the class of 2008 and the 100th overall prospect according to Rivals.com. According to scout.com, he was ranked as the 16th best point guard in his class.
He averaged 20 points, six rebounds, six assists and six steals, earning 2006-07 All-State Class "AA" and All-Nassau County and All-Long Island honors. He led his team to the Nassau Class "AA" title in 2006. This was the program's first in six seasons.
