Ringo Starr

Paul Bio

"Richard Starkey" was born in July of 1940 and grew up in Liverpool. Ringo experienced a childhood full of sickness, but was always interested in music as motivated by his father. At one point, at the age of 6, Ringo was in a coma because of severe appendicitis. When he was in high school, Ringo was in many bands, where he earned his nickname because of all the rings he wore. In 1963, he joined The Beatles as drummer right before Beatlemania hit. Ringo is well-known for writing the songs "Octopuss's Garden" and "Yellow Submarine."
