High School Challenges
Another theme that comes from “The Secret Life Of The American Teenager,” is there are many high school challenges that come. It may seem that your boyfriend or girlfriend is everything you could need, but many breakups are bound to happen. In the show, almost every episode, someone had a different boyfriend or girlfriend.
There are many divorces that happen every year, and that is sometimes because they got married too young, thinking they would never find anyone else to love. Also, people split-up from their boyfriend or girlfriend because of taking their relationship too far. In this show, the girls and guys are constantly moving from boyfriend to girlfriend, which is hard. This makes high school tough.
Just because everything seems tough now, doesn’t mean it will always be that way. This is another part branching off of the theme. One girl loses her father, and she thinks it is her fault because of a poor decision that she made, and thought it could never get worse. Another girl has to deal with a new baby, and the father of the baby, and her boyfriend, who are constantly fighting. The father of Amy is moving back with her mother, but the other daughter is upset with what life will be like back at her old house. These are just a few different types of problems that go on between high schoolers.
Students everyday deal with many problems, and if they cannot make it through without supporting friends, they are going to have a hard time. This is showed, very greatly, through out the series.
