The band was formed in 1992, band memebers including Scott Raynor on the drums, Mark Hoppus on the bass, and Tom Delonge on the guitar and lead vocals. The bands original name was Duct Tape but Tom thought a better suited name for the group would be Blink-182. In 1993 the band recorded Flyswatter in Scott's bedroom using primative recording technology causing sound quality to be very poor. They latter produced Buddha using several of the songs from Flyswatter using the same record studio and sould about 1,000 copies. In 1994 Blink signed with Cargo Music and recorded their first album, Chesire Cat, in three days. 2 years latter the band recorded Dude Ranch with new record company MCA and one song off the album did very well. After the album was produced and the band went on tour Scott had to check into rehab and his replacement, Travis Barker, ended up taking Raynor's position permanitley. Since then they have recorded 4 albums selling millions of copies reshaping the face of punk music. In 2002 Barker and Delonge tried having their own side project in the band Box Car Racer. During the 2004-2005 wold tour Tom felt feelings of homesickness and quit the band inexplicably and the band broke up. During this break Mark and Travis started the band +44 and Tom produced the band Angels and Airwaves. Neither were sucessful in sales and after the tragic plane crash Barker was in during the summer of 2009 the band saw past each others differences amist the chaos and reunited. They have their own line of merchandice and their smiley logo has become a symbol of iconoclasts in the punk rock world.
