Pittsburgh Steelers
Ben was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first round (11th overall). Then coach Bill Cowher said, "If you have an opportunity to get a good, young quarterback who has a tremendous upside, it's too golden of an opportunity to pass." On August 4, 2004 Ben signed his first contact, a 6-year, $40 million contract. He got his first start after staring quaterback Tommy Maddox got injuried in his second game of the season. He led the Steelers as a starter, 15-1 and set many rookie records.
Starting his 2nd season, he convinced runningback Jerome Bettis to return for one final season saying that if he gave Ben one more season that he would give Bettis a Super Bowl ring. During this season he has injuries to both his knee and thumb but rallied the last six games to give the team a wildcard birth. They beat Cincinnati, Indianapolis, and Denver on the road to go to the Super Bowl. On February 6, 2006 in Detroit, Michigan, Ben Roethlisberger became the youngest quaterback to ever win the Super Bowl. In 2008, he would again lead the Steelers to another Super Bowl ring and making it their 6th ring, a league record.
