Early Life
Childhood and High School
Ben Roethlisberger was born on March 2nd, 1982 in Findlay Ohio. From a young age he loved sports and he mainly focused on football and basketball. "Some kids just rise above the rest, and Ben was one of them," said Findlay Mayor Tony Iriti, who was Ben's fifth and sixth grade football coach. "You usually don't expect a kid to make every play, but Ben always seemed to make things work. He has a lot of God-given talent and natural ability."
He started out as a thin, lanky wideout for Findlay High School. During his final high school season in 1999, Ben earned the oppertunity to become the starting QB. During that year, he set state high school records for throwing 4,041 yards and 54 touchdowns. He was invited to the Miami (OH) University's football summer camp before his senior year. It wasn't until after his first game that, which he threw 6 touchdowns, that Miami made him an offer. Ben's football career would continue to blossom in college.
