The Lonely Island

The Lonely Island, which also includes Akiva (Kiv) Schaffer and
Jorma (Jorm) Taccone, is a popular music/comedy group from Berkley, California and are currently based in New York, New York. They produce Comedy Hip Hop, Crunk Rock, Nerdcore. (Nerdcore music is characterized by themes and subject matter considered to be of general interest to nerds, though it can appeal to others as well.) Their debut album, Incredibad, as released on February 10, 2009 and was 13th in the U.S. Billboard 200 list (top 200 selling albums in the U.S.) and 7th in the Top Rap Albums list. During the first two weeks of availability, the hit song "I'm On A Boat" featuring T-Pain saw over 60,000 downloads.

Though they have taken a step toward music, The Lonely Island also focuses on writing short comedy skit for Saturday Night Live. Some of their SNL skits, or "Digital Shorts," have become instant internet sensations. These videos include: Lazy Sunday, Punching People Just Before They Eat, D*** In A Box, I'm On A Boat, and Like A Boss. It's no surprise that their hit singles also happen to be music videos originally aired on SNL. Aside from music comedic music videos, The Lonely Island has also produced working a short series called "MacGruber," a spoof off of "MacGyver." In June 2009, it has been confirmed that there will be a full length film to be released mid 2010.
