Kellie Pickler Biography

Kellie Pickler was born on June 28, 1986. She was born in Abermarle, North Carolina to Cynthia Morton and Cylde Raymond Pickler Jr. Her mom left her when she was two, and her dad was in and out of jail all throughout her childhood. Her mom came back and tried to get custody, got it for two years, and then Kellie was returned to her grandparents at the age of twelve. She was raised by her grandparents, Clyde Raymond Pickler, Sr., and grandmother Faye Pickler. She was raised in Palestine, a small town near Albemarle. She had three half sibiligs. They are Eric, Courtney, and Michael, but she had never met Michael. Her grandma died in 2002 due to lung cancer, but she continued to stay with her grandfather and her younger sibiling Eric. In 2004, Kellie graduated orth Stanly High School in New London, North Carolina. She had always loved singing; She sang "On the Side of Angels" by LeAnn Rimes at her high school graduation.

Being 19 years old, in 2005, she auditioned for American Idol in Greensboro, North Carolina. When she got to the final 6, she got eliminated. After she was eliminated, she returned to Abermarle, North Carolina for a parade and a reunion with her father. She was given a key from the mayor and they called that day "Kellie Pickler Day."
