Kanye and his long time girlfriend Alexis Rainey split up in May,2007. Kanye has also had been dating designer Alexis Phifer on and off since 2002.. In 2006 he prosed. Then in 2008 they ended their 18-month engagement. According to Kanye's friend the couple's relationship had been straining due to the amount of time he had been putting on his current tour. He is currently dating model Amber Rose.

Legal Troubles

In 2006, Kanye was sued by Robert Knieval for trademark infringement in Kanye's music viedo "Touch the Sky". The viedo showed Knievel attempting to fly a rocket over a canyon. He said that viedo damaged his reputation. Knievel eventually settled the suit in November 2007, days before his death.

In September, 2000, Kanye and his manager Don Crowley were arrested at Los Angeles International Airport for vandalism. Kanye was realeased from the Los Angeles Police Departments Division station on a $20,000 bail bond.

In November, 2007 Kanye's mother, Donda West died from complications from surgery. Her death really hurt Kanye. He later said that her death was like losing an arm and leg.
