Rashad always had a wrestling background but wasn’t planning on pursuing it as a career. He wrestled in high school and in college. The college he wrestled at was Michigan State and later after he graduated he became Michigan states assistant wrestling coach. He started training with Dan Severn. Dan turned him into a true MMA fighter. The ability of Rashad Evans caught the attention of the UFC. So then He then got invited to appear in a show called The Ultimate Fighter season 2. He ended up winning the show even with his significant height and weight disadvantages. And then signed a contract with UFC to fight professionally. So far since he has been in the UFC he has had great success with only one loss and one tie. Hopefully he will continue his success in his upcoming fight against Thiago Silva next January 2nd in 2010.
