Background InfoRashad Evans was born in Sanborn, New York as a one kid in a family of eight. He played football for Niagara-Wheatfield High School. When on offense he played running back and on defense he played safety. He was also a two-time All-State Wrestler at his school. He graduated in 1998 and went on to attend Niagara County Community College where he wrestled and won the National Junior College Championship 165 lb (75 kg) in 2000. With some publicity of his wrestling skills he was then able to transfer to Michigan State University, and competed in the 174 lb (79 kg) division. Throughout his three years he ended up with a record of 48-34. He also became Michigan States assistant wrestling coach in 2005.
